December wouldn’t be complete without a CWN holiday gathering, and this year we celebrated in style at the beautiful Kent Island Resort in Stevensville. The venue was the perfect setting for our festive theme, Cookies and Cocktails.

Kent Island Resort delighted our group by pairing three holiday cocktails with three Christmas cookies. Guests enjoyed a White Christmas Lemon Drop paired with a cran-orange sugar cookie, a chocolate espresso martini served alongside brown butter toffee cookies, and other delicious seasonal treats.

The evening was filled with laughter, great conversation, and plenty of photo-worthy moments—making it a joyful celebration enjoyed by all. Happy Holidays everyone!

More than a dozen CWN members gathered at Denny’s in Grasonville on the morning of December 19 for the group’s annual Shock and Claus event.

Each year, members come together for a pre-holiday breakfast at a local restaurant with one special goal: to surprise their waitstaff with an extra-generous tip as a heartfelt holiday gift.

This event is always one of our favorites. Time and again, the universe—or whatever you believe in—has a way of guiding us to just the right person who can truly use a little extra kindness during the holiday season.

This year was no exception. Thanks to the generosity of the women who attended, we were able to leave a tip totaling $1,200.00, helping to make the holidays especially bright for a very deserving Denny’s employee.

Who knew speed networking could be so fun?

Ove 40 local women joined us last week for a round of speed networking at the Market at Dover Station in Easton, MD. It's amazing what a little one on one time can do for making solid connections and friendships.

Thank you to all the ladies who participated and thank you to The Market at Dover Station for hosting the event. If you haven't been to the station, stop by and do a little holiday shopping. It's a unique shopping experience with so many high-end, hand-crafted items by local artisans.

Earlier this month, CWN awarded 8 scholarships to local women who were each actively pursuing higher education in areas of their business. This years scholarships were awarded to the following women: (from left to right) Bomaya Kamara, Monika Armbruster accepting on behalf of her daughter Bella Armbruster, Aimee Bealefeld, Leah Dedrick, Josie Stockman, Janis Handy, Rachel Lawson and Sarah Tinelli

The event took place at Libbey's Coastal Kitchen in Stevensville and was attended by over 50 local business women. It was the perfect day to celebrate these deserving women and connect with other women in our area. Our next event will be on Wednesday, October 1st at the Howard County Library where we'll be talking about Women's Health.  You won't want to miss it!

On Thursday May 8th, the women of CWN gathered for their last formal meeting of the year. The Holiday Inn Express in Grasonville was gracious enough to host our Pinot, Petals, and Paint Party.

Jacqui Gosselin, a local artist and CWN member offered to lead the group in an informal class on watercolor and ink technique. We were all shocked at how easy it was and how wonderful our paintings turned out.

Thank you to the Holiday for providing the space and the gorgeous view! Thank you to Valerie Ruth Catering for the delicious snacks and most importantly thank you to Jacqui Gosselin for teaching the class!
